The Protoshield is designed for the individual who wants to create their own shield for their chipKIT board. The Kit includes all the parts required to bring the signals from your chipKIT board to the prototyping area. The prototyping area has two power busses through the middle of the board for easy routing of power to your circuit components. These power busses are selectable using two jumpers located at the end of the board. The onboard power LED indicator is connected to the 5 Volt power supply rail to show power is available to the board.  The Protoshield is designed for the individual who wants to create their own shield for their chipKIT board.
