In the blog post series The Hidden Gems of WaveForms, I went over some of the features of WaveForms that often go unnoticed. One of those features is the help tab. WaveForms 2015 comes with built in documentation that defines each of the features in settings. When WaveForms 2015 is opened two tabs automatically open. The Welcome tab, in which you can open or save workspaces and open each of the tools, and the help tab!
If you click on the help tab it’ll switch over from whatever other tab you were on. Automatically open is some information on getting started with WaveForms and some general details about the application.
To the left of that you’ll find the help navigation bar. Where you can select to open information about any of the tools included in WaveForms, or about any of the hardware that can connect to WaveForms.
If you click on any of the names of the hardware, Digital Discovery, Analog Discovery 2, Analog Discovery, or Electronics Electronics Explorer, it will open up some information relevant to that device. Here you’ll find some hardware specifications, and a troubleshooting guide in case you are having trouble connecting to your device.
If you click on any of the tools it will open up a tool walkaround. Here you’ll find a brief summary of the tool, and details about each of it’s settings and features. Starting with the menus at the top of the screen, this page will briefly describe all of the options, settings, menus, and features available to you.
For some of the tools the interface changes depending on which device you have plugged in, for example the power supply. The power supply on the Analog Discovery 2 provides a variable power supply, while the power supply on the EE Board and Digital Discovery have additional features. For these tools, you’ll see a menu like the one below:
When you select the device you want to learn about, you’ll see the familiar tool walk-around.
In many of the interfaces and as a standalone tool you find the script editor interface. The way you interact with this interface is common, and you’ll find a help section about scripting at the bottom of the tool list. Here you’ll find information about the controls and function calls.
