If you’re under the impression that our Analog Discovery products are only Windows compatible, this post is for you. The Analog Discovery 2, Digital Discovery, and Analog Discovery Studio are ALL compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux. That’s good because it makes our wonderful portable instruments even more accessible, but bad because it means that you have to admit that you were wrong in thinking that we weren’t looking out for you. In this post, we will be focusing on how to get your Analog Discovery Studio up and running on a Mac OS.
Regardless of which type of OS you are using, the first thing you’re going to need to do is download WaveForms from the Resource Center, then you will need to do the following:
- Open the .dmg file from the download location.
- From the desktop, open the WaveForms Drive.
- Move the WaveForms icon to the Applications folder.
- The OS may block the launch of WaveForms when it is opened for the first time. If this is the case, go into the System Preferences’ Security and Privacy page and click Open Anyway.
And… if you’re working with a newer version of Mac OS, that’s it! However, if you are using OS-X 10.13 or earlier, you’ll have a few more steps to install some drivers. Luckily, we’re going to help you with Analog Discovery Studio even if you’re not caught up with the latest trends.
For OS-X 10.13 (or earlier):
- Double click DigilentFtdiDriver.pkg to launch the FTDI Driver Installer.
- Introduction > Continue
- ReadMe > Continue
- License > Continue > Agree
- Destination Select > select users, then Continue
- Install Type > Install
- Voila!
