During the Christmas break, I ended up reading iLAB Analog, a new textbook written by Dr. Chen Yun Chao from National Taipei University of Technology Department of Electronic Engineering. I was excited to read a book that deals with both conceptual knowledge and has practical labs. For anyone who wants to learn about analog circuits but has very basic knowledge of physics, it is a good starting point. This book is currently being used in the Intro to Analog Circuits class held at National Taipei University of Technology.
Dr. Chen offers a comprehensive look into the fundamentals of analog circuits. Each chapter focuses on one commonly used component, including bipolar junction transistors, amplifiers, oscillators, active filters, and more. Not only does each chapter cover theoretical concepts, but it also provides hands-on lab experience using the Analog Discovery and simulation software, as well as exercises. After reading each chapter, I can definitely say I know how to use and test the component as well as analyze the circuit featuring with that specific component.
The book is published by Tung Hua and currently is only available as a Chinese version. The Analog Discovery and iLAB Analog are both available at E-elements Technology Company Limited, Digilent’s distributor at Taiwan.
It would be great to have an english version of this book available.
There isn’t an English version available, unfortunately, but we do have material available that covers the same topics (with a similar approach). It can be found here: https://blog.digilentinc.com/Classroom/RealAnalog/. The first chapter is especially close to what you’d find in the iLAB Analog textbook!
