The Digilent Genesys 2 board is based on the powerful Kintex-7 Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) from Xilinx (as opposed to the Virtex-5 in the first-gen Genesys). The Genesys 2 is and ideal platform for data and video processing with some of its new features, including fast external memory, high-speed digital video ports, and much more. There are a lot of expansion opportunities with the FMC HPC connector.
The Genesys 2 is compatible with Xilinx’s new high-performance Vivado® Design Suite as well as the ISE toolset. Included in the box is a voucher that unlocks the Design Edition of Vivado (normally $2,995) that is device-locked to the Genesys 2. It’s available for sale for $1299 (or $599 if you are a verified academic user).
