We are very excited to announce that today is the debut of the Digilent Blog’s new look!
Admittedly, this may not be much of an announcement, as you may have already had a sneaking suspicion that something was different when you opened the homepage and literally everything is in a different place. However never fear! We will provide a quick rundown of what is in all those different places, and hopefully convince you that this new-ness is nothing to be feared, and instead a much-needed makeover for our beloved Blog.
First of all, you may have noticed a couple changes right off the bat. Most of the features are fairly self-explanatory, however we did want to clear up some potential confusion regarding some of our new layout.
One of the goals of our new look is to make sure readers can find relevant content on our blog quickly, without having to scroll through a lot of more recent posts. To achieve this, we have organized the posts into three main categories: The Slider posts, the Recent Posts, and Top Posts.
Slider posts are chosen by us as content that we think is most relevant for our readers to see. They are what we consider to be the posts we want featured front and center.
Recent Posts are exactly what they sound like- a more traditional chronological digest of posts.
Top Posts are the most liked posts as determined by the readers! These are decided by the number of “likes” a post receives. Which brings us to another exciting feature- the upvote/downvote system! At the bottom of each post you can now vote using the little thumbs up or thumbs down icons.
if you are a fan of our content, please make sure to subscribe! You can do so by visiting the right side of our site using nothing but your eyes, and then entering your email address into the appealing-looking “Subscribe” box located there. Now each time a post goes out you will receive it to your email inbox, so you do not have to go searching for the URL each time you want to read. We typically post once a day Monday-Friday, and promise there will be no additional spam jamming up your email.
We hope you like our new look, and stay tuned for even more exciting updates to the blog!
I come to the blog through an RSS reader, and so I notice no change —the individual posts look just like before, and I’ve never been to the blog home page.
