    USB-3114 Review

    Posted by Buck181 on 12th Nov 2020

This unit has been deployed in several of our manufacturing stations and has shown robust performance for 2-3 years in many of these applications. It is a standard for our design team due to ease of use and integration. We recommend the USB-3114 based on cost, reliability, performance and ease of integration.

We were able to replace a bunch of hardware and cables with this low cost module

Posted by Admiral on 20th Aug 2017

We recently switched out products system controller from a desktop pc to a fanless industrial computer. To do this we have to replace a D/A PCB card and external Voltage to 4-20 mA converters. We were able to replace the whole mess with this one USB Module._x000D_ I was able to quickly add the module to our software using the LabView drivers and examples provided._x000D_ A very positive experience!

    Great value USB based DAQ

    Posted by felipeb8 on 1st Aug 2013

We use this device for a small prototype application where from the USB port of a computer we could control the movement of a several step-motors. The analog outputs from the DAQ were used to provide these signals. Coding this on the computer front were used using the Visual C++ APIs and it was fairly straight forward. While there were other more expensive solutions for an application as simple as this this USB based DAQ was a great value

    Solid hardware, limited software

Posted by AnMCCuser on 30th May 2013

The device itself is great, and does exactly what we needed to do. We just needed a single current output. The 16-bit precision of the output is way more than adequate for us, and the sampling rate is also adequate. What I didn't like is the lower limit on the cycle frequency of the arbitrary function generator (in TracerDAQ Pro). We needed to send long-period cycles to the device, but because the lower limit on the frequency is 0.1 Hz, the longest wave we could send was 10 seconds. This seems to be an arbitrarily-defined limit within the software. There's no reason the device couldn't handle a longer waveform. Ended up having to dig into the Universal Library and write our own little program to send arbitrary waveforms of any period. An unfortunate delay. Once we did that though, everything worked great. It may not be correct to take off a star from the device rating due to shortcomings in the software, but this seems like a good way to convey what I've found for future users.

    4-20 mA current loops

    Posted by Jim1 on 19th Mar 2013

We use the USB-3102 to provide customers 4 x 4-20 mA current loop outputs from our instruments. The 3102 obviously can do much more than that; but, it does well at the current loops and is the lowest cost alternative we've found for the purpose.
