MTE cables are a convenient connection method to probe circuits under test with the Analog Discovery, but can be cumbersome when using a breadboard. The Breadboard Breakout is designed to connect all of the inputs and outputs on the Analog Discovery directly to a breadboard. When switching between circuits, the entire breadboard adapter can be removed or the Analog Discovery can be unplugged from the adapter, leaving the entire circuit intact. Multiple Breadboard Breakouts can be used to conveniently switch between projects or designs.

The Analog Discovery connects to the Breadboard Breakout directly to the 2x15 pin connector on the top of the breakout, or with the optional 2x15 Ribbon Cable for Analog Discovery. All of the signals are passed directly through to the Cmod style header to individual nodes in the breadboard.

For a tutorial, Reference manual and other documentation, view the Support Materials Tab.

  • One 2x15 female header to connect the Analog Discovery or Ribbon Cable
  • 30 male pins broken out to fit into a standard breadboard
  • Provides a direct connection with Digilent's Analog Discovery Inputs and Outputs
  • Labels for breadboard breakout pins correspond to Analog Discovery header connections

I love the pin breakout - I hate the connection.

Posted by Lawrance Schneider on 12th Oct 2021

If you plug in your Analog Discovery 2 to the breakout board, it sits vertically to your breadboard - constant pain in the ass. If you buy the cable, you need to find enough pins as both the cable and the breakout board are female connections. Digilent wrote back to me that they sent the pins when they sent the breakout board. ??? I do not have them. A fear simpler solution would be one male and one female (either board or cable) to connect in a way similar to the cables on many many computers. In stead, I cut number 20 wired used that for the missing pins. Again a pain in the ass. HOWEVER, I LOVE THE BREAKOUT BOARD - AFTER I FIGURED OUT A WAY TO USE IT.

    Function of Part

This adapter works well when using the Analog Discovery 2 on a breadboarded ciruit. It allows you to connect to the different parts of the circuit using only male-to-male jumpers. It saves the clutter of having all the unused AD2 probes around the circuit at the minimal expensive of losing breadboard space for the adapter - well worth it!

Kind of a waste of money

Everything that you get with the Analog Discovery is fine. This is a waste of money for a product that does not give a substantial benefit for the customer. Would not recommend

Usable, but not a game changer

I've done a detailed review at https://gasstationwithoutpumps.wordpress.com/2018/07/09/analog-discovery-breadboard-adapter/ Bottom line: this looks useful for lecture demos, by reducing the setup time in the minutes before class, but not a win for general debugging.
