Very good device with great support

    Posted by Sandman13 on 12th Jun 2014

I originally bought a different product from MCC that was not compatible with the DAQAmi software due to my own error. Upon this realization, I contacted MCC to see how large of a restocking fee I would have to pay to get the device I really intended to. $0 - zip - nada. Both technical support and customer service were excellent and I got the correct device, in this case a USB-1208FS-Plus that I could use with the DAQAmi software in just a few days. This particular product is on the low end of the line as far as features and price, but is way more than enough for the project I am using it with. I also own a USB 1608 card for other higher resolution tasks and have been very happy with it as well, but for the price, it was worth buying the 1208FS-Plus so I wouldn't have to constantly switch out wiring. So far it has performed very well for measurement task for both float and pressure readings, as well as digital readings (using the analog inputs due to a limitation in DAQAmi). I hope that someday DAQAmi supports more cards and digital inputs as well, but for now, I'm getting all the data I need with very little issue at all. Price vs. function is great!

    Very reliable solution

Posted by MrFixItAll on 24th Mar 2014

I have used this product for the last 7 years and put it in most of my designs. I find it to be reliable and it offers a lot of "bang" for the buck. It is easy to install and just as easy to put into an automaton routine.

An excellent DAQ board with infinite possibilities...

Posted by Mandy on 19th Mar 2014

My name's Mandy Concepcion, pres. & senior developer at Automotive Diagnostics & Publishing. After doing extensive development on the 1208FS-Plus board from MCC, here are my thoughts. There are 3 main components to the 1208FS-Plus board and all other MCC boards, the Universal Library, the cb.cfg file and Instacal. The UL are the DLL calls made in code to control any MCC board. It is universal to all MCC boards and "Extremely Easy to Use" (my words). Instacal is is a small program the makes a configuration file cb.cfg for the 1208FS-Plus os any other MCC board. You then include the cb.cfg file on your software deployment. The 1208FS-Driver is Rock-Solid and in extensive testing hasn't crashed yet. But, above all, since the UL is the same for all MCC boards, the speed of development and ease of use is superb and fast. There's little learning curve for anyone developing with the UL from MCC. The only thing that changes between boards are the IO Port calls for example, as in the 1208FS-Plus has 16 IO and another board may have 8. Other than that, if you develop for one board it the same as for another. If you're interested in deploying your software, then the cb.cfg file can be easily configured for multiple different boards on the same PC/Laptop. Also, if you're interested in deploying your software, MCC makes it easy to sanitize the driver installation so that it's silent and Logoless. In resume, the USB1208FS-Plus board and software platform is very easy to use and rock solid. PS. Tech-Support is also unlike most other companies. They answer the phone, the engineers are sharp and the service is on target. So expect a solid response from MCC.

    Absolutely excellent technical support

Posted by Carrol on 5th Feb 2014

I purchased a 100 Lb load cell and a usb 1208LS daq for a stress strain rubber tester I was building. The load cell and the daq worked well but as I was using an led/phototransister counting holes in a take up reel for the length measurement, the 1208 LS did not work. Consulting with the tech support I realised that I needed the 1208 FS which had a clock input to work. I returned the 1208 LS for a full refund (including shipping) and recieved the 1208 FS which is working perfectly.

The product is very useful, but can be better.

Posted by xysd on 5th Feb 2014

The biggest problem for us is that there is no way to start and stop logging with this product using some triggering like from one of the analog signal when it is above threshold to start logging and when this analog signal is below threshold to stop recording. That's why the size of the files and the amount of the recorded files can take several GB memory during about 1 month monitoring of our equipment while the equipment is runing about 20% of the time. The currently possible triggering in s/w can just start the recording, but unable ever to stop it. Thanks.

Great little device. I use it everyday.

Posted by Lance on 13th Jan 2014

Great device. This is the first device I purchased along with Dasylab 12.0. It was easy to setup and use. I have yet to see the limits of its capabilities. I have since then purchased three other modules. Great value.

Great product, adds lots of flexibility, integrates easily

Posted by RFGuy on 29th Aug 2013

We added this unit to our automated measurement products to allow users to add their own sensing devices to our system with out having to make any software changes. Our system supports input from any of the devices inputs and records it along with measurements from our system. All information is automatically logged together in a single file. Customers love the flexibility. It was straight forward for our software team to integrate support for this device and it saved us from having to add support for an unpredictable number of sensors.
