Pcams

Unique peripheral hardware for computer vision applications, so you can develop or learn about embedded vision applications.

Digilent's small and powerful camera modules, Pcams, are designed to provide advanced imaging capabilities for embedded systems. The Pcam is a versatile imaging tool that is ideal for a wide range of applications, including robotics, drones, and computer vision. Use the FMC Pcam Adapter to convert from FMC to MIPI CSI-2 and quickly add multiple cameras to any Digilent FPGA board with an FMC connector.

The Digilent Pcam camera module is based on a powerful image sensor and processor, providing high-quality images with rich color and detail. The camera module features a compact form factor, making it easy to integrate into embedded systems with limited space. Ready to use out of the box and comes with the necessary flat-flexible cable and factory-installed lens with an M12 lens mount.

One of the key features of the camera hardware is its compatibility with a wide range of FPGA-bases development boards, including the popular Digilent Genesys ZU and Zybo Z7 boards. Use the Digilent FMC Pcam Adapter to expand the connections to 4 Pcams and mount on boards that have a compatible FMC connector. This makes it easy for developers to integrate Pcam into their existing FPGA-based workflows and take advantage of its advanced imaging capabilities.

The Digilent Pcam 5C features the Omnivision OV5640, a powerful 5-megapixel color image sensor. This sensor includes various internal processing functions that can improve image quality, such as automatic white balance, automatic black level calibration, and controls for adjusting saturation, hue, gamma, and sharpness.

Data is transferred over a dual-lane MIPI CSI-2 interface, which provides enough data bandwidth to support common video streaming formats such as 1080p (at 30 frames per second) and 720p (at 60 frames per second). The module is connected to the FPGA development board via a 15-pin flat-flexible cable (FFC) that is pin compatible with the connector found on the popular Raspberry Pi development board.
