    Great value for low price

Posted by paulvalencia on 1st Aug 2013

I bought this a few months ago, and did not have a hard time controlling it with my program. There are several examples in their library that I utilized so less time spent in development. And for the price is very well worth it! This is my first attempt controlling hardware device from a software program as I am used to purely software applications and found it to be easier as I initially thought. I would definitely recommend this to fellow engineers.

Quick, simple, cost-effective... what more do you want?

The USB-1608FS-Plus is a great little data acquisition device if you're a small or medium business like ours looking to take some realtime data on your product. My company builds industrial pumps and recently we decided to step up our testing and lab area with some new equipment. While we have plenty of test rigs loaded with individual pressure, flow measurement and air usage gauges, we wanted a system for measuring the complex transient pressures going on inside our pumps. We needed something simple for taking simultaneous pressure readings from six pressure transducers and being able to display them side-by-side in relation with time. The USB-1608FS-Plus was perfect because it could do our needs, didn't have a million unneeded bells and whistles and the price was right. My only complaint with it is lack of key-slots or surface mounting hardware; the one through-hole secured it to the back-panel of the enclosure we mounted it in, but being a single screw, it's a little wobbly. Regardless, the unit worked perfectly when we fired it up. It was easy to wire and easy to get readings off of with TracerDAQ. Eventually, we plan to build a small VB.NET interface for it to automatically organize and catalog our test data on the server.
