Discovery USB Programmable Power Supply (DPS3340) Reference Manual

Features

  • Three programmable power supplies
    • 1 V to 5 V (10 mA to 3 A)

    • -1 V to -15 V (-10 mA to 500 mA)

Power Supplies

The Discovery USB Programmable Power Supply has 3 programmable Digital Voltage Supplies, which can supply between 1 V to +5 V at up to 3 A, -1 V to -15 V at up to -500 mA, and 1 V to +15 V at up to 500 mA through the Power Supplies (“Supplies”) instrument.

The DPS3340 can either be used as a standalone device within the WaveForms software, or can be used co-currently with any Digilent Test and Measurement device as an additional Power Supply tool within a single WaveForms instance by clicking the Select+ button after first choosing the primary T&M device.

Each of the power supply rails is associated with an LED available on the connector, just above the supply's banana connector, which is used to indicate the operating mode of that supply. When a load doesn't require more current than the supply's current limit, the supply operates in Constant Voltage (CV) mode, and the indicator LED is green. When the load does try to draw more current than the current limit, the supply operates in Constant Current (CC) mode, and the LED is red. WaveForms' Supplies instrument UI for the DPS3340 also features these LEDs, showing CV mode with a green indicator and CC with a red indicator.

All channels have integrated readback for voltage and current. Additionally, output channels 2 and 3 share a common ground connection as well as providing optional tracking of both voltage output and current limits through the WaveForms software.
