Discovery Studio Max is a streamlined, instrumentation-focused platform designed for\u00a0engineering\u00a0labs. It preserves the familiar\u00a0breadboard-equipped\u00a0form factor and core instrumentation I\/O that many instructors relied on with ELVIS, while\u00a0intentionally focusing the platform on instrumentation by removing embedded control elements that not all courses require.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">For engineering laboratories, this means that\u00a0ADS Max\u00a0reduces setup time, lowers system cost, and allows students to focus on understanding signals and measurements rather than managing embedded targets and software layers.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">ADS Max and ELVIS III: A High-Level Comparison<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134245418&quot;:true,&quot;134245529&quot;:true,&quot;335559738&quot;:360,&quot;335559739&quot;:80}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/adsmax\/\">ADS Max<\/a>\u00a0retains\u00a0the core instrumentation experience that made ELVIS popular in electronics labs, including high\u00a0quality analog and digital measurement instruments and a\u00a0bench\u00a0friendly\u00a0form factor. This includes oscilloscope and waveform generator channels, a DMM, an IV analyzer, and variable power supplies.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Where the two platforms differ is in scope and intent: the\u00a0ELVIS III was designed as a broad teaching platform that combined instrumentation with Real-Time and FPGA-based control\u00a0(typically used for deterministic control, robotics, and advanced embedded systems).\u00a0The\u00a0ADS Max, by contrast, focuses squarely on instrumentation\u00a0and\u00a0does not include a Real-Time or FPGA target, and its\u00a0connector for Canvas Max add-on boards\u00a0does not expose analog input or output channels, unlike the ELVIS III\u00a0PCI expansion\u00a0connector.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">It\u2019s\u00a0important to note that while the expansion connectors share a similar physical form factor, the ADS Max pinout is much simpler. As a result, most existing ELVIS III top boards are not compatible with ADS Max.
