Since we didn’t get a chance to show them off at Embedded World, we wanted to catch you up here.

The Eclypse Z7 is the newest addition to our versatile line of FPGA development boards, but it’s a flavor all its own. Especially when you include the swappable new Zmods, it’s more of a platform or ecosystem than just a new board.

Enough chit chat though, let’s have the hardware do the talking. This demo shows off the Eclypse Z7 with both new Zmods alongside the well-known Analog Discovery 2.

Here’s how it all works together:

The Analog Discovery 2 provides a signal with its Arbitrary Waveform Generator to the analog-to-digital converter on the Zmod ADC.

The Zmod ADC’s low-level controller provides the digitized data to the Zynq-7020 FPGA, on which we’ve implemented a finite impulse response (FIR) low-pass filter.

The filtered signal, and the original signal, are sent to different channels on the digital-to-analog converter of the Zmod DAC.

These signals are then routed to oscilloscope channels of the Analog Discovery 2, so we can visually see the response and performance of our filter.

We’re stoked to see what customers use this board for. This is the standardused on the high-performance, small form factor Zmods. We’re looking to rapidly grow our line of available Zmods to enable engineers across even more applications.
