We want to make sure you feel confident and empowered that using Digilent products will make this transition much easier for you.<\/p>\n<p>First things first, you are not alone. Professors at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uml.edu\/engineering\/\">UMass Lowell<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.columbia.edu\/\">Columbia<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.tamu.edu\/index.html\">Texas A&amp;M<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/radio.seu.edu.cn\/newenglish\/\">Southeast University (China)<\/a>, and 70 other universities around the world have already successfully implemented curricula based around the <a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/analog-discovery-3\/\">Analog Discovery 3<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/analog-discovery-studio-a-portable-circuits-laboratory-for-every-student\/\">Analog Discovery Studio<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXP189089516 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP189089516 BCX0\">UMass Lowell adopted a \u201claboratory anywhere\u201d teaching model, converting half of <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXP189089516 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP189089516 BCX0\">the lab sessions into Analog Discovery 3 labs &#8211; where the students work on their own <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXP189089516 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP189089516 BCX0\">and have half of the laboratory time.\u00a0 However, due to recent school closures, they have moved to an entirely online effort. They found that students in the Analog Discovery 3<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXP189089516 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP189089516 BCX0\">\u00a0based labs were more engaged, better laboratory scores, and <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXP189089516 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP189089516 BCX0\">saw an increase of 2% in final grades with no negative impact.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>At <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coe.montana.edu\/\">Montana State University<\/a>, <span class=\"TextRun SCXP26500493 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP26500493 BCX0\">Professor Brock\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXP26500493 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"SpellingError SCXP26500493 BCX0\">LaMeres<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXP26500493 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP26500493 BCX0\"> uses the Analog Discovery 3 as the test and measurement solution for digital <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXP26500493 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP26500493 BCX0\">electronics courses, allowing him to teach them 100% remotely. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP26500493 BCX0\">He says, <span class=\"TextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\">\u201cThe Analog Discovery 3 is the key enabler for conducting our circuits labs remotely.\u00a0 It allows students to <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\">power their breadboards and take measurements just as if they were physically at a lab bench on\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXP119507370 that we provide to the students in the <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\">physical lab.\u00a0 Our students now get experience with logic analysis and driving digital signals into their\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\">circuits.\u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\">But, what makes the <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\">Analog Discovery 3 practical is its cost.\u00a0 Academic pricing makes it feasible for our department to <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\">purchase and distribute devices to each student.\u00a0 That <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\">isn\u2019t<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\"> possible with some of the more expense <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXP119507370 BCX0\">portable lab instruments on the market.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The paper \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/asee-coed.org\/index.php\/coed\/article\/view\/43\/pdf_4\">Active Learning: Improving Student Learning using Portable Computer-Based-Test-Equipment,\u201d<\/a> Dr. Mihaela Radu and Dr. Mircea Dabacan discuss the use of the Analog Discovery from Digilent as a means of increasing Feel free to use all of these resources to help transition your course to online, and of course if you are your students have any questions they can head over to the<a href=\"http:\/\/forum.blog.digilentinc.com\"> Digilent Forum.<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>What Do Students Say About It?<\/h3>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cI am\u00a0an Electrical Engineering student and can say hands down this is the most versatile and useful tool I\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">own. If the Analog Discovery 3 had only the network analyzer it would still be worth the money. I am one <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">of few students at my school that can test the frequency response of the circuits I create from home. The\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">network analyzer is very useful when creating filter circuits, especially when the filters are\u00a0tunable\u00a0and I\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">need to dial them in.\u00a0\u201d<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cOne of my instructors recommended the Analog Discovery 3 for our lab assignments, and I opted not to <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">buy one (trying to save money.) My lab partner had one, so we used his. On the first lab assignment, after\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">seeing all the things it could\u00a0do\u00a0I decided to buy\u00a0one.\u201d<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cIf\u00a0you are\u00a0an electrical engineering student, this is an absolute must have. Practical enough to be portable\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">but as powerful as any instrumentation system\u00a0you&#8217;ll\u00a0ever need.\u00a0I have\u00a0mostly used the oscilloscopes,\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">wave generators and power supplies, they work seamlessly. I love how easy the software is for controlling\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">the Analog Discovery.\u00a0Its\u00a0a buy you\u00a0don&#8217;t\u00a0have to think\u00a0twice.\u201d<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"4\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cThis thing is awesome.\u00a0I have\u00a0only had a chance to use the oscilloscope and the digital\u00a0analyzer\u00a0but\u00a0they\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">have\u00a0worked great. The software is awesome as well. It suits my needs for school\u00a0great!\u201d<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"5\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cIt&#8217;s\u00a0all the things stated above. In my lab courses\u00a0I&#8217;m\u00a0so used to everything being much bigger. Although\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">these\u00a0don&#8217;t\u00a0have the same capabilities as the bigger, clunkier, more expensive machines, these are really\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">cool especially for a learner like\u00a0me.\u201d<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"6\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cI am\u00a0a\u00a0second year\u00a0electrical engineering student and got this item recommended by a friend while I was\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">looking for an oscilloscope.\u00a0<\/span>\u200b<span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">If\u00a0you are\u00a0reading this review and you too are looking for\u00a0a\u00a0oscilloscope,\u00a0don&#8217;t\u00a0search anymore.
