{"id":23087,"date":"2018-01-19T09:27:31","date_gmt":"2018-01-19T17:27:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.digilentinc.com\/?p=23087"},"modified":"2021-06-10T14:27:22","modified_gmt":"2021-06-10T21:27:22","slug":"software-update-waveforms-3-7-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/software-update-waveforms-3-7-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Software Update: WaveForms 3.7.5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/reference\/software\/waveforms\/waveforms-3\/previous-versions\">WaveForms (previously WaveForms 2015)<\/a>\u00a0is the software interface that controls the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/analog-discovery-2-100msps-usb-oscilloscope-logic-analyzer-and-variable-power-supply\/\">Analog Discovery 2<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/digital-discovery-portable-logic-analyzer-and-digital-pattern-generator\/\">Digital Discovery<\/a>, and<a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/electronics-explorer-all-in-one-usb-oscilloscope-multimeter-workstation\/\">\u00a0Electronics Explorer Board,\u00a0<\/a>providing access to all of their bench-top tools. We posted an updated version of WaveForms, version 3.7.5,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>which is available for download on the Digilent Wiki. This new version of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/reference\/software\/waveforms\/waveforms-3\/previous-versions\">WaveForms<\/a>\u00a0includes\u00a0some bug fixes and some new functionality to existing tools! If you want to know what version you have, <a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/i-have-waveforms-2015-do-i-need-to-update\/\">check out this post.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can view the entire change log on the <a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/reference\/software\/waveforms\/waveforms-3\/previous-versions\">WaveForms Download page<\/a>, but here is a summary of the biggest changes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Additional Features in the Oscilloscope Tool<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<ul>\n<li>In the Oscilloscope tool, the view menu allows you to add many different plots of the Acquisition and add additional functionality to the Oscilloscope window such as an XY plot, Persistence, and cursors. In addition to adding the Histogram View in the view menu, you can now also add an Edge Histogram to the plot by checking the &#8220;Edge Histogram&#8221; box in the gear menu on the Oscilloscope plot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Edge-Histogram.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-23551 size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Edge-Histogram.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"314\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Another feature in the view menu is the zoom window, which gives you a zoomed in version of a portion of the Oscilloscope plot. Quick measure has now been added to the zoom window, so you can take measurements in both the regular and zoomed views.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Quick-Zoom.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-23550 size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Quick-Zoom-600x250.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In addition to attenuation by 0.1X, 1X, 10X, and 100X, the Oscilloscope channels can now be negatively attenuated for data inversion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Attenuation.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-23549 size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Attenuation-600x314.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"314\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Simple Math channel allows for simple manipulation of the Oscilloscope data including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. In addition to these basic operations, the Simple Math channel also has an AC and Offset option.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Math.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-23546 size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Math-600x314.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"314\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Additional features in the Oscilloscope and Logic Analyzer tool<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<ul>\n<li>In the Oscilloscope tool and the Logic Analyzer, saved acquisitions can now be loaded into separate tabs for reference.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Acquisition.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-23548 size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Acquisition-600x314.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"314\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Oscilloscope and Logic Analyzer tools can now operate in Record mode in the background.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/record.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-23547 size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/record-600x314.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"314\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>More customization supported in the Protocol Analyzer<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<ul>\n<li>The Protocol Analyzer UART tab allows transmission and receiving of UART data, which can now include custom endings and escape characters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Escape.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-23545 size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Escape-600x389.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"389\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>An additional feature added to the Pattern Generator<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Pattern Generator has added the Auto Run option, which is based on the longest signal or bus period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Auto-Run.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-23552 size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Auto-Run-600x195.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"195\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong> Bug Fixes <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Every update to WaveForms includes some amount of bug fixes. You can view some of these in the full change log, or ask on the <a href=\"http:\/\/forum.blog.digilentinc.com\/\">Digilent Forum<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong> New Year, new name!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You may have already noticed that in this post and on the Wiki the name WaveForms 2015 is no more. The entire WaveForms suite including WaveForms 2 (Previously WaveForms Original or Legacy) and WaveForms 3 (previously WaveForms 2015) will be referred to as WaveForms. There are two ways to tell which version you have.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The most detailed is the version number. For example, this version is WaveForms 3.7.5. The first number indicates whether it is WaveForms 2 (Previously WaveForms Original or Legacy) and WaveForms 3 (previously WaveForms 2015).
