Or bronze. Or \u201clegal\u201d. For example, that seemingly brilliant app idea that I recently had (to combine Tinder and Pokemon Go! into one location-based mate-seeking scavenger hunt) may have had some more flaws I was willing to admit. However even if \u201cHubby Hunter\u201d never makes it off the ground, that does not mean that one should give up on coming up with ideas, or attempting to geolocate love. And while sometimes this stubbornness can be misconstrued as \u201chardheadedness\u201d or \u201cobstinate\u201d it can come in very handy when navigating a tricky engineering problem.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Just because what you do works, does not mean there is not a better way.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>It can be very easy and tempting to revel in the moment that something actually starts &#8220;working&#8221;&#8230; and this is a good thing! It is important to celebrate successes. However, it is also important to have the ability to build past success and improve a project even further. \u00a0For example, this was the first attempt at completing the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/Focus-Space\/\"> Focus Space <\/a>project:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-22111\" src=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/as-600x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" data-wp-pid=\"22111\" srcset=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/as-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/as.jpg 620w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At this point I still had no idea how electronics actually worked and mostly just had been connecting different devices that I figured &#8220;did the things&#8221; I wanted them to do (like connecting a nightlight to the LED panel so that when the LED turned on the nightlight told the LED strip to turn off). While this was a good approach to get started, it was definitely improved by getting some <a href=\"https:\/\/forum.digilent.com\/\">actual help<\/a> with circuits and the <a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/analog-parts-kit-by-analog-devices-companion-parts-kit-for-the-analog-discovery\/\">right equipment!<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-22112\" src=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/fs-338x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"338\" height=\"600\" data-wp-pid=\"22112\" srcset=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/fs-338x600.jpg 338w, https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/fs.jpg 349w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 338px) 100vw, 338px\" \/><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>Just because there is a better way, does not mean you can\u2019t do what works!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>While this may seem contradictory to the above point, it is also important to have some element of trusting yourself and being willing to explore ideas in order to discover new projects and ways of making stuff work.
