As their about page states:

Nuts & Volts is written for the hands-on hobbyist, design engineer, technician, and experimenter. The diversity of subjects appeals to all levels of experience and spans such topics as amateur robotics, circuit design, lasers, computer control, home automation, data acquisition, new technology, DIY projects, electronic theory, analog, and myriad microcontrollers.

In the June issue of Nuts and Volts the Digital Discovery was featured. Fred Eady discussed his first user experience with the Digital Discovery. For those that don’t know, the Digital Discovery is a USB Logic Analyzer, Pattern Generator, and Protocol Analyzer, capable of up to 800 MS/s and 32 channels.

Fred begins by recounting his first experiences with learning and debugging digital electronics. In summary, it was bulky and expensive. Then he starts his experimentation.

From Using the Static IO in lieu of setting up actual LEDs and buttons, to using the Logic Analyzer to view pulses, and the Protocol Analyzer to receive and decode “Digital Discovery” over UART, Eady’s 6 page experience was great.

Most impressive to Fred was the Script Editor, which allows users to do automated data acquisition and analysis.
