In my previous post I went over Lab 3: Amplifier Frequency Response. In this post I&#8217;ll be going over Lab 4: Full Wave Rectifiers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_18408\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18408\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-18408\" src=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/courses-covered-600x397.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"397\" data-wp-pid=\"18408\" srcset=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/courses-covered-600x397.png 600w, https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/courses-covered.png 745w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-18408\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lab 4 is designed to be included in a introductory electronics or power electronics course.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Lab 4: Full Wave Rectifiers\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">is designed to teach students about the characteristics of rectifier circuits. They will learn the theory behind rectifiers and simulate and build their own bridge rectifier. Through this lab they can explore bridge rectifier design and it&#8217;s response to different input waveforms and loads. They will also learn how to characterize diodes and find their minimum input voltage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This lab utilizes 4 sets of software, <a href=\"http:\/\/beta.multisim.com\">Multisim Live<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/Digilentinc.com\/waveforms3\">WaveForms 2015<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ni.com\/labview\/\">LabVIEW<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beta.multisim.com\">Multisim live <\/a>is a browser-based PC software that allows students to simulate their circuits from their tablet, smartphone, or computer, no matter where they are.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ni.com\/labview\">LabVIEW<\/a> is a development environment design specifically used to accelerate the productivity of engineers and scientists. It features a graphical programming syntax that makes it simple to visualize, create, and code engineering systems.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/Digilentinc.com\/waveforms3\">Waveforms 2015<\/a> is the software that drives the <a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/analogdiscovery2\">Analog Discovery 2<\/a>. For this lab, students will use the power supply and waveform generators to provide the DC and AC input,\u00a0and oscilloscope to discover the output. In addition to being accessed through WaveForms 2015, in this lab the tools on the Analog Discovery 2 are also accessed via LabVIEW.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">For this lab students will need:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An <a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/analog-discovery-2-100msps-usb-oscilloscope-logic-analyzer-and-variable-power-supply\/\">Analog Discovery 2<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Some resistors, capacitors, diodes, a breadboard, and breadboard wires\n<ul>\n<li>All of which can be found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/analog-parts-kit-by-analog-devices-companion-parts-kit-for-the-analog-discovery\/\">Analog Parts Kit<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/beta.multisim.com\/\">Multisim Live<\/a> Premium account (Free for a limited time!)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/waveforms-2015-download-only\/\">WaveForms 2015<\/a> (A Quick and Free Download)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.studica.com\/LabVIEW\">LabVIEW 2015<\/a> or Later (available from studica)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/Analog-Discovery-2-USB-Oscilloscope-LabVIEW\/\">Digilent WaveForms VI<\/a>s (A Free Download)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Similar to <a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/getting-the-most-out-of-your-analog-discovery-lab-3\/\">Lab 3<\/a>, Lab 4 goes through theory, simulation, and practical analysis.<\/p>\n<p>The lab starts by introducing the concept of rectifiers, with the example of a full-wave bridge rectifier.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ni.com\/gate\/gb\/GB_EKITCOMPLABSELENG\/US\"><img loading=\"lazy\" Multisim Live in order to answer questions about polarity, load resistance, and peak voltage requirement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ni.com\/gate\/gb\/GB_EKITCOMPLABSELENG\/US\"><img 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next, students are asked to use LabVIEW to analyze the relationship between the current through the diode, the voltage dropped across the diode, and how these two quantities
