{"id":17891,"date":"2016-12-06T10:00:04","date_gmt":"2016-12-06T18:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.digilentinc.com\/?p=17891"},"modified":"2021-06-11T11:02:22","modified_gmt":"2021-06-11T18:02:22","slug":"update-to-waveforms-3-4-7-and-the-voltmeter-tool-is-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/update-to-waveforms-3-4-7-and-the-voltmeter-tool-is-back\/","title":{"rendered":"Update to WaveForms 3.4.7, and the Voltmeter tool is back!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WaveForms 2015 is the user interface that controls the <a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/analog-discovery-2-100msps-usb-oscilloscope-logic-analyzer-and-variable-power-supply\/\">Analog Discovery 2<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/electronics-explorer-all-in-one-usb-oscilloscope-multimeter-workstation\/\"> Electronics Explorer Board, <\/a>and gives access to all of their benchtop functionality. We have just posted a new version of WaveForms 2015, version 3.4.7 available for download on the wiki. <a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/waveforms-2015-download-only\/\">WaveForms<\/a> 2015 3.4.7 left the overall look and existing functionality of the Analog Discovery 2 alone, but has added some very useful tools.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the highlights:<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Voltmeter Tool is Back!<\/strong> Due to popular request we&#8217;ve added the voltmeter tool back into <a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/waveforms-2015-download-only\/\">WaveForms <\/a>2015. The same functionality is available on the more complex Data Logger. However we understood that many people missed the simple and easy to use interface of the Voltmeter. You can use it either in window or popped out as it&#8217;s shown here.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>We&#8217;ve added a Protocol Interface. <\/strong>Previously you were<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>able to receive and analyze protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and I2S in the logic analyzer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/reference\/software\/waveforms\/waveforms-3\/start\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17908\" src=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/logic-analyzer.png\" alt=\"logic-analyzer\" width=\"381\" height=\"567\" data-wp-pid=\"17908\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With 3.4.7 you still have access to these tools, but in addition can read and write using UART, SPI and I2C in the newly added Protocol Interface. We wanted to make learning electronics as accessible as possible, but its important that academic integrity isn&#8217;t lost. If you click on control and open the Event tab, you can view all of the events in the current acquisition and their locations in time.
