{"id":12420,"date":"2016-03-01T20:00:09","date_gmt":"2016-03-02T04:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.digilentinc.com\/?p=12420"},"modified":"2021-06-16T14:22:35","modified_gmt":"2021-06-16T21:22:35","slug":"getting-started-with-waveforms-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/digilent.com\/blog\/getting-started-with-waveforms-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Getting Started with Waveforms 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By now many of you know that our main instrumentation software app has gone through an extensive rewrite and was newly released as <a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/waveforms-2015-download-only\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Waveforms 2015<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This project had several goals:\u00a0improve the user interface, prepare for additional\u00a0features and enhancements (including support for new features in <a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/shop\/analog-discovery-2-100msps-usb-oscilloscope-logic-analyzer-and-variable-power-supply\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Analog Discovery 2<\/a>), improve performance and stability, and to be able to release and maintain a single code base that supports all major desktop platforms &#8211; <strong>Windows<\/strong>, <strong>Mac OS X<\/strong>, and <strong>Linux<\/strong>. We ran a long beta program over the summer and many of you contributed terrific feedback and feature requests. The result has been a great success &#8211; a fresh new app with a modern look and feel that retains the best of the old <strong>Waveforms<\/strong> but runs on all key desktop platforms and is ready for the future.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn6.bigcommerce.com\/s-7gavg\/products\/481\/images\/3698\/Oscilloscope__14541.1452706405.1280.1280.png?c=2\" alt=\"WaveForms Oscilloscope\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The older Windows-only version of <strong>Waveforms<\/strong> was rev&#8217;ed one more time to support the new variable power supply features in <strong>Analog Discovery 2<\/strong>. We did this to ensure\u00a0that existing customers using the original <strong>Analog Discovery<\/strong> could smoothly transition to <strong>Analog Discovery 2<\/strong> and <strong>Waveforms 2015<\/strong>. Going forward, all new feature development and revisions will be focused on <strong>Waveforms 2015<\/strong> so we encourage you to give it a try if you haven&#8217;t yet.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn6.bigcommerce.com\/s-7gavg\/products\/481\/images\/3700\/XY_Scope_2__37582.1452707207.1280.1280.png?c=2\" alt=\"XY Scope\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can find a complete reference manual and downloads at the <a href=\"https:\/\/digilent.com\/reference\/start\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Digilent Reference Site<\/a>, along with reference documentation and downloads for all our key products. To supplement this reference material, I&#8217;m going to follow up this blog with a series of more task oriented articles to help you use Waveforms 2015 to accomplish common measurement or debugging jobs as well as point out features and capabilities that you may not know about.
